Materials & tools:

• Super Bulky/14ply chenille yarn Himalaya Dolphin Baby (100g/120m): (consumption 2 skeins).
• Additional yarn: Fine/4ply yarn YarnArt Jeans (50g/165m) for the horns, claws. eyes.
• Some white chenille yarn.
• Hooks size 3.5-4 mm and 2-2.5 mm.
• Polyester toy filling (synthetic filling/fiberfill).
• Strong thread and long needle for sewing pieces.
• Stitch markers (I use a contrasting thread).
• Sewing pins.
• Scissors. A lighter or matches to singe plush yarn ends.

When using chenille yarn, the size is ~ 35 cm.
The size depends on your gauge, hook size and the selected yarn.

Abbreviations:

R – round/row

MR – magic ring
sl st -slip stitch
sc-single crochet
hdc – half double crochet
dc-double crochet
inc – increase (crochet 2 sc in 1 stitch of the previous round)
hdcinc – half double crochet increase (crochet 2 hdc in 1 stitch)
dec – decrease (crochet 2 next sts together as 1 sc)
BLO – crochet in back loops only
FLO-crochet in front loops only

Claws

Arms

MAKE 2. START WITH ADDITIONAL YARN.
STUFF FIRMLY AND DON’T STUFF THE UPPER ARM.

Change color

Take a hook one size smaller (I have 2.5 mm) and join the claws.
Work in both loops on the claws and back loops on the arm:

Prepare a piece of plastic. Cut it out according to the bottom of the body. Insert the plastic inside the body, if you want to make the bottom flat and stable.

Eyes

Start in black color:

Change color to white in the last stitch.
R3. BLO (or FLO): 5 sc. 4 hdcinc, 6 sc. 4 hdcinc (27)

R4. 1 sc, ch1, turn, start from the third stitch on the hook: (hdc. hdcinc)*3, 8 hdc. (hdcinc, hdc)*3. 7 sc (33), sl st
Cut the yarn, leaving a long white end for sewing pieces. Embroider glare on the eyes with this end. Cut the black yarn and fasten off.
Attach the blue yarn to sl st in Rnd 2 (color changing place) and work along the edge between black and white colors with sl st. Crochet around the pupil.

Eyebrows

MAKE 2
ch8, start from the third chain on the hook:
6 hdc, ch1, sl st
Cut the yarn, leaving a long end for sewing pieces.

Fasten off, cut the yarn, leaving the end for sewing pieces.
Stuff and sew the horns between rounds 7-11 of the hood.

Assembly

If you did not join the legs (option 1) before, sew them to Rnd 5 of the body. Sew the legs (option 2) to the bottom of the body.
If you did not join the arms before, sew them to Rnd 23 of the body.
Sew the eyes between Rnd 25 (the upper edge) and Rnd 17 of the body.
Sew the eyebrows above the eyes at any angle.
This way you change the facial expression for your monster. To make it kind, lower the corners along the outer edge of the eyes below. To make the monster evil. move your eyebrows down to the center.

Sew the horns to the crown.
Embroider the mouth. You can make your monster smiley or sad or angry. Outline points for embroidery with pins. Use black chenille yarn.
